REST API security and authentication

Before you can start using the Autotask PSA REST API, you'll need to review the following security requirements and environment prerequisites to ensure that your implementation is ready to receive API queries.

IMPORTANT  Failed authentication to the REST API will result in the return of a 401 error. If you observe this failure state, verify that the user name, password, and integration key combination that you are using is valid and that the user account has the correct permissions to access the API.

NOTE  The Autotask REST API does not currently support Single Sign-On (SSO). If you are using SSO with Autotask PSA, the API will recognize your Autotask PSA credentials used before SSO. The password will not expire.
